The Ventures are one of the true Greats of American Music. Their influence can not be exaggerated. I bought my first Venture album when i was 11. I'm now 59 and still play their Lps. Because they really are a living Soundtrack to American culture as well as music. It was a wonderful day & more than deserved when they were inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame. They finally got their due. Long Live the Ventures !
I grew up listening to the ventures Don Wilson is my my moms cousin and his mom Josie was my great Aunt she recorded their first album for them she was me and my sisters favorite aunt she passed away last year and is missed greatly! I remember when I was little and we would have family get togethers Don and his wife would always bring me and my sisiters a little gift each time they came back from Japan!
We just heard Nokie Friday night at the Moore Theater for the 50th Anniversary party! Nokie, you can still make those guitar string sing! We loved every minute of the fun!!!! Thank you!
Just the VERY BEST that man can make. We grew up with this music and proud to say I am this old otherwise I wouldn't have known how great it can be. Danced with my future wife to this many times and been married to her for 42 years now and never used drugs of any kind. Just listening to these guys was the biggest high we needed.

Much like many other Bands of the Period. They can not be replaced. The Ventures are a True American Treasure . Their Music is a Time Capsule representing the last 5 Decades. Hopefully with the help of sites like RUclips, they will form a New generation of Instrumental/Surf Fans.
@Elwood2911 I agree, it is not a requirment to cut faces while playing guitat. Chet Atkins doesn't. Nokie enjoys what he's doing or he wouldn't have done it this long and as well.
Is it necessary to "look" like he's having FUN. What an asinine comment. Anyone who plays as well as he does is in total concentration on what he's doing. For one thing ( of many) he's counting ... how long to hold the notes,he's concentrating on keeping time, so the song doesn't speed up and slow down all over the place.He plays by ear, so he has to calculate ( in nanoseconds) where he is in relation to the others. SMILING is optional.Just enjoy the music,fool.
